As Kankakee Community College continues to evaluate opportunities to better serve the residents and business community within its district, the College made a strategic decision to develop a new facility in the northern part of its district.
KCC’s new North Extension Center is a two story building consisting of approximately 18,300 sf that primarily serves the following programs:
The building has been configured with efficiency and sustainability in mind as well as a strong desire to create an engaging teaching and learning environment for students, faculty, and staff. The interior space is naturally daylit throughout and creates a strong community presence for the College.
The building incorporates a geothermal heating and cooling system as well as numerous other energy savings strategies in order to reduce ongoing operating costs for the College.
