University of St. Francis

Student Recreation Center Study

As part of its overall Master Plan development and in an effort to provide additional recreational space for its students, athletes, and community, the University of St. Francis selected our team to assist them in the development and evaluation of various options to expand and renovate its existing Recreational Facility.  The tight site constraints coupled with the University’s desire to maintain as much existing parking as possible and the City’s desire to create a key intersection for the community helped to shape our overall design approach to this 80,000 sf addition.  In order to support the University’s mission, the new/renovated facility was designed to house the following spaces:

  • (4) Court Fieldhouse with a Suspended Jogging Track
  • Competition Gymnasium
  • Fitness Center
  • Dance/Aerobics Rooms
  • Concessions/Juice Bar
  • Pro Shop
  • Athletic Locker Rooms
  • Training Room
  • Community Locker Rooms
  • Team Rooms/Classrooms
  • Coaches’ Offices

The general orientation of the new addition was established to address the University’s Quad along the south edge and the proposed new Student Housing development along the north.
