Morton College

Library Renovations

The library at Morton College had not been updated since its original construction in the early 1970’s.  Since that time, its role within the college and within the community itself had drastically changed.

As the nucleus of the institution and the primary library resource center within the area, the college’s library was targeted to be completely renovated to incorporate the following:

  • Improved zoning and circulation throughout the space
  • Increased access to technology through the integration of open computer labs, bibliographical instruction classroom, and wireless technology
  • Group study rooms to encourage more collaborative learning opportunities
  • A cyber cafe to transform the library into a true destination point for its patrons

Through the planning process, the entire facility was completely reprogrammed and reorganized to provide a more user friendly and inviting environment.  As a result, this new space has become one of the most active areas on campus for students.
