Metamora Township High School District #122

New High School

DKA worked closely with the board, administrators, teachers, parents, students and community members between 2013-2105 to first determine the short and long term goals of the school then to provide multiple options that would support their vision. The process included meetings, interviews, and presentations where hundreds of people attended and voiced their perspectives.

Solutions were provided during a master planning and conceptual design exercise that identified renovations and additions to create “a school that makes sense”. The final design approved by the board to continue into documentation phases touches nearly every department in the school. Security is fortified through the introduction of a secure entry vestibule, unobstructed views through widened corridors, and the strategic placement of administration. 21st century learning environments, student circulation, and the ‘right sizing’ of functions are features included in the plans.

The new design includes:

  • A new media center
  • Secure entry
  • Bus drop and dedicated parent pick-up zone
  • New classrooms
  • Renovated vocational technology area
  • New art classrooms / studios
  • New computer rooms
