Illinois Central College

Facilities Master Plan

As a follow-up to the Facilities Master Plan previously developed by our team, Illinois Central College re-engaged DKA to develop a District-Wide Space Study to evaluate its existing space throughout its Main Campus and two satellite campuses. Our evaluation included numerous interviews with administrators, faculty, and staff to better understand the following issues:

  • Current Space Utilization
  • Programmatic Growth Needs
  • Programmatic Adjacency Issues
  • General Qualitative Issues

At the Main Campus, the following space needs were specifically identified by the administration as areas that required attention throughout the study:

  • Student Services
  • Library
  • Student Success Center
  • Student Lounge Space

The following programmatic / space needs were identified at the North Campus:

  • Student Services Center
  • Student Center
  • General Classrooms
  • Culinary Institute
  • Health Sciences Center
  • Science Facility
  • Corporate and Community Education Center

Once all of these issues were clearly identified, various options were developed to address the individual needs and presented to the administration in order to achieve a consensus plan.
