Markin Family Student Recreation Center

The design team worked closely with the Leadership, Facilities and User Groups at Bradley University through a programming exercise, benchmarking tours of similar facilities, and a design process to create a unique building to support their specific vision of attracting new students by providing students with a facility that is superior to the recreation centers of competing Universities.

The free-zone corridor links the two student entries on campus while the curve in this connecting link allows circulation between the existing main quad on campus and a future quad planned when the campus expands. The three-story climbing wall, pool, and gymnasium are all on display for immediate view once entering the facility and the new Recreation Center has become the highlight for prospective student tours.

The new building includes:

  • A 1/8th Mile Suspended Running Track
  • Fitness Floor
  • Aerobic Studios
  • Lap Pool
  • Racquetball Courts
  • 4 Court Gymnasium
  • Performance Court
