As part of the implementation of the Facilities Master Plan completed by Demonica Kemper Architects, Black Hawk College engaged our firm to completely renovate the existing Building 3 facility at their Quad Cities Campus. The design converts an existing dark, outdated, and underutilized Athletics and Classroom building into a welcoming, light-filled, high-energy Athletics / Fitness Center, with a separate academic zone that includes modernized Natural Science and Health Science Labs.
A new main entry lobby, with a dramatic sloping roofline, extends over a new glazing system to provide a refreshed identity and upgraded image to the building and campus. In addition, the remainder of the building’s exterior has been modernized and re-clad with new glazing offering views of the forested campus, along with wood panel rainscreen systems, zinc panels, and metal panel systems.
Multiple lounge spaces have been incorporated throughout the facility within the Fitness and Academic areas to provide a destination on campus for students to connect, engage, and collaborate.
New and renovated spaces consist of the following:
| Location | Moline, Illinois |
| Size | 127,000 sf |
