With a continuous focus on the success of its students, Black Hawk College identified the need to transform a currently under-utilized space at its Moline campus into an engaging, dynamic destination to support Tutoring, ESL, TRiO, and Testing functions for the college.
Located beneath the existing Library, a new, more welcoming entry for the space has been created to draw students into a collaborative learning environment consisting of soft seating and open computer stations. Once inside this space, students will have complete visibility of the various student services available to them, while at the same time, maintaining an acoustical separation between them.
The flexible Tutoring, ESL, and TriO areas are designed to promote one-on-one and group collaboration along with complete access to various forms of technology for students, while the Testing Center accommodates four distinct testing areas visible from centrally located proctors and range in function from paper and pencil testing to high-stakes testing.
