BigShots Golf Pooler

Golf Entertainment Facility

“Let’s make a big change!” That is what DKA was directed to do with the Generation 4 facility. Days of all-day charrettes (working sessions) with BigShots Operations and Facilities VP’s resulted in a space program and scalable floor plan that featured never-seen attractions such as an indoor two-story Interactive Golfing Experience where golfers hit balls into a 70’ wide x 50’ tall screen projection screen that interacts with their ball. Flashing colored lights, deep bass and high-pitched sounds mimicking explosions and a shaking floor rattle everyone within earshot of the area. DKA worked closely with the creative design stage and gaming technology engineers, in Hollywood, CA to provide the perfect space for this new concept.

The new Golf Entertainment Facility includes the following programmatic elements:

  • Grand two-story entrance with views to all of the activities
  • Two levels of 8 Indoor Giant Screen Interactive Golfing Bays, 16 total bays
  • Two levels of 20 Golfing Bays, 40 total bays
  • Full-service kitchen, restaurant and bar for 120 people
  • Outdoor semi-realistic synthetic turf 18 hole putting course
  • Indoor semi-realistic synthetic turf 9 hole putting course
  • 2 large event rooms with three golfing bays each for 50 people each
  • Upstairs Bar/Entertainment area 50 people

BigShot Golf VP’s asked that all of the different Golf Entertainment Experiences were viewable from both the interior and the exterior, ‘sort of like a county fair,’ as they explained it. The large two-story center space houses a restaurant and allows views through from the outside and to every function in the building. The flashing colored lighting above this space and in the exterior windows when flashing appears to move and mimics the colored fluorescent tubes in a Ferris wheel.
