BigShots Golf Bryan

The project proforma and the culture of Bryan, Texas located one mile from Texas A&M University required a thoughtful and clever re-design for this new facility based on a previous prototype developed by DKA. The updated design eliminated space in areas that a college town does not require…and added space where students will congregate and socialize. This new facility also re-examined the precise width of the hitting bays, thus adding one additional bay for each 11 bays. Not only did this modification aid in shortening lines and through-put, but it also resulted in a significant financial benefit to our Client.

This new Golf Entertainment Facility includes the following programmatic elements:

• Efficient two-story entry with views through the building to the driving range
• Two levels of 26 Golfing Bays, 52 total bays
• Full-service kitchen, restaurant and bar for 100 people
• Outdoor semi-realistic synthetic turf putting course and dining for 60 people
• 2 large event rooms for 70 people each
• Upstairs Bar/Entertainment area 80 people

The design based on ‘play and engage’ rather than ‘sit and watch’ resulted in interior and exterior environments that use less seating and added more “toys” such as a karaoke stage, foosball in place of dining tables, open spaces for bags, and so on. Bold and bright colors, flashing lights, loud music, and access to food and beverages keep the college students at the bar long after finishing at the driving range.
